Manual Handling and Lifting Loads

Everyone carries out manual handling in one form or another and handling injuries are the biggest single cause of time off work

Moray Firth Training's Manual Handling Programme is designed to assist companies reduce the risk of injuries to staff as required by the Manual Handling Regulations 1992 and subsequent guidance revision 1998.


Designed to give employees an understanding of the principles of safe handling and lifting techniques. The program is achieved by explanation, discussion, video, demonstration and practical exercises.

This course does not cover the moving of people.

Designed for all staff as everyone carries out manual handling, but particularly those at risk from specific tasks.


1/2 or 1 day (depending on Customers requirements) am/pm or 9 am - 4 pm The one day course is particularly suited to Supervisors where more emphasis is placed on Risk Assessment.

On completion of the course the candidate will

  • Have knowledge of the Manual Handling Regulations
  • Be aware of Employer and Employee Responsibilities  
  • Be able to understand basic Risk Assessment
  • Understand Human Kinetics
  • Be able to use Kinetic Handling Techniques
  • Be able to carry out Manual Handling safely
