The work of the Vehicle Service Mechanic includes:
Scheduled
Servicing
Identifying
and locating basic faults
Removal
and replacement of components
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Vehicle
Mechanics need to:
Be
good with their hands and able to solve practical
problems
Have
4 years secondary education with ideally passes
in
science or technical based subjects and an
enthusiasm
for a trade
Have
an aptitude for mechanical principles and like
working
as part of a team
TRAINING
AND EDUCATION
Serve a recognised
apprenticeship including planned work experience coupled with training
at a local Training Centre or College and regular assessment of
performance in the work place.
QUALIFICATIONS
Achievement
of work based competence assessments leads to a Scottish/National
Vocational Qualification (S/NVQ) awarded at : LEVEL 2 (Unit Replacement)
