VEHICLE BODY REPAIRER (Panel Beater/Paint Sprayer)
WHAT IS THE JOB?

Working as part of a team to repair damaged vehicles.

Panel Beaters Will:
Remove and repair structural and non-structural panels, use body jigs to achieve manufacturer’s repair standards.
Spray Painters Will:
Prepare vehicle surfaces, match tints and colours and apply paint by spray to match existing paint surfaces.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Vehicle Body Repairers need to:
Be good with their hands and like working as part of
  a team
   
Have good colour recognition and
  NO history of chestailments
   
Have 4 years secondary education with ideally
  passes in science or technical based subjects and an
  enthusiasm for a trade.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION
Serve a recognised apprenticeship including planned work experience coupled with training at a Training Centre or College and regular assessments of performance in the work place.
QUALIFICATIONS
Achievement of work based competence assessments leads to a Scottish/National Vocational Qualification (S/NVQ) awarded at Level 2 or 3).

PARTS PERSONNEL
WHAT IS THE JOB?

A vitally important job in the garage industry. Partsmen are responsible for ensuring that the components necessary to service or repair vehicles are readily available.


The work of Parts Staff Include:

Receiving and controlling new stock coming in.
   
Taking orders from customers both over the sales
  counter and the telephone
   
Operating computer keyboards to input data and raise
  invoices for goods supplied.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
People working in Parts need to:
Be able to work from written instructions, data and
  displays
   
Like working as part of a team
   
Be able to get on well with customers
   
Be good with figures and have clear legible writing

TRAINING AND EDUCATION
Serve a recognised apprenticeship including planned work experience coupled with training at a local Training Centre or College and regular assessment of performance in the workplace.
