First Aid at Work Certificate

Description:

An intensive course providing all the knowledge and practical skills necessary to become the designated workplace "First Aider".


Duration:

4 days including examination
Normal hours 9am - 4.45pm each day

Aims and Objectives:

On completion of the course the candidate will be able to deal with:

Action at an emergency Broken Bones
       
Neck and Back injuries Unconcious Casualties
       
Soft tissue injuries Poisoning
       
Expired Air Resuscitation Burns and scalds
  (mouth to mouth)    
       
Eye injuries C.P.R (Heart stopped)
       
Head injuries Handling and
      Transporting
       
Wounds and bleeding Treatment of Shock
       
Record Keeping Heart Attacks
       
HSE Legislation and
  requirements

Entry Requirements:

None specific, however candidates require to be physically fit with good lung function and a willingness to become involved with emergencies.

Qualification:

Candidates will be assessed during and at the end of the course and successful completion will result in the award of an approved "First Aid at Work" Certificate which is valid for three years.

A short intensive refresher course covering most of the topics previously covered on the Initial Certificate Course

Duration:


2 days including examination
Normal hours 9am - 4.45pm each day

On completion of the course the candidate will be able to deal with:

Action at an emergency
Soft tissue injuries
       
Poisoning
Unconcious casualties
       
Burns and scalds
Eye injuries
       
Expired Air Resuscitation
Head injuries
  (mouth to mouth)    
       
Handling and transporting
Treatment of shock
       
Record keeping
C.P.R (Heart stopped)
       
Heart attacks
HSE Legislation and
      requirements
       
Wounds and Bleeding
Neck and Back injuries
       
Broken Bones    

Entry Requirements:

Candidates MUST have a current First Aid Certificate on date of exam. NB: a lapsed certificate even by a day will require a full 4 day course

Qualification:


Successful completion following assessment will result in renewal of the First Aid Work Certificate for a further three years.
