Apprenticeships and Careers In The Garage Industry

Established in 1966, Moray Firth Training was formed by a number of local companies in the garage and engineering industries to provide professional training advice and assistance to employers and has its own purpose built Training Workshops for Light and Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.

Working in close partnership with garages from Orkney to Lochaber and Skye to Buckie, these Employers currently have over 100 apprentices undergoing training with Moray Firth Training and the Group provides the facilities necessary for apprentices, or adults who are already working in the industry, to achieve their Scottish or National Vocational Qualifications in Automobile Engineering (SVQs/NVQs).

Apprentices attend the Training Workshops for 6 x 1 week blocks per year during the first three years of their apprenticeship. Fourth year is spent entirely in company building experience and evidence of competence. Assessment of competent performance is carried out by a combination of company and Group staff.

Main benefits to both employers and apprentices include:

Locally based facilities and expertise in training

Training is to National Standards. Virtually all administration is carried out by the Group

Excellent value for money

Moray Firth Training is the ONLY employer run organisation in the North to provide these qualifications and is an equal opportunities organisation.

“Excellent local facilities giving quality training to National Standards” J. Gibson - Dickson's of Forres
