Apprenticeships
and Careers In The Garage Industry
Established
in 1966, Moray Firth Training was formed by a number of local companies
in the garage and engineering industries to provide professional
training advice and assistance to employers and has its own purpose built Training
Workshops for Light and Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.
Working in close partnership with garages from Orkney to Lochaber and
Skye to Buckie, these Employers currently have over 100 apprentices
undergoing training with Moray Firth Training and the Group provides the facilities necessary for
apprentices, or adults who are already working in the industry, to
achieve their Scottish or National Vocational Qualifications in
Automobile Engineering (SVQs/NVQs).
Apprentices
attend the Training Workshops for 6 x 1 week blocks per year during the
first three years of their apprenticeship. Fourth year is spent entirely
in company building experience and evidence of competence. Assessment of
competent performance is carried out by a combination of company and
Group staff.
